Prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him, said: "Saum (fasting) is a shield (or a screen or a shelter from Hell-fire) .... Saum is for me, so I will reward the fasting person) for it and the reward of good deeds is multiplied ten times." (Bukhari).     Narrated Sahl, may Allah be pleased with him, The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "There is a gate in paradise called ar-Raiyan, and those who observe Saum will enter through it on the day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it." (Bukhari). Narrated abu Huraira, may Allah peace be upon him, Allah's Messenger, peace be upon him, said: " When the month of) Ramadan begins, the gates of the Paradise are opened." (Bukhari). Also, peace be upon him, said: "When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained." (Bukhari).     The night of Qadr is better than a thousands of months. Allah, the Almighty, say: "The night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thosands months." (97:2). The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "Whoever observes Qiyam (the supererogatory prayer) in the night of Qadr, with faith and intention to earn the reward, then all his previous sins are forgiven." (Bukari and Muslim).     Also, every night of Ramadan, Allah releases a number of people from Hell.
